On Friday April 3, 2020, the DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University in collaboration with the Culture Action Europe is organizing the event “The future of Museum professionals in the digital era”, at the Bozar Fine Arts centre, in Brussels.

This is the final event of project “Mu.SA: Museum Sector Alliance”, which was implemented in the European Framework of Erasmus+ / Sector Skills Alliances, under the coordination of Hellenic Open University, with the participation of 11 more organizations from Greece, Italy, Portugal and Belgium.

Mu.SA project designed 4 new occupational profiles [Digital Strategy Manager, Digital Collections Curator, Digital Interactive Experience Developer and Online Community Manager] for the museum sector and developed the corresponding learning pathways. The project produced professional training programs consisting of a highly regarded MOOC (which attracted more than 5.000 trainees worldwide) and four blended specialization training courses in digital and transferable competences as well as in 21st century skills, open to professionals and experts of European museums and the cultural sector.

The final event of Mu.SA is addressed to cultural heritage institutions and professionals in the Culture sector (staff, managers, board members, and policy-makers), vocational educational and training organizations (VET), students, social partners and everyone interested coming from the culture sector and museums.

In the first session, the final research and work activity results of the Mu.SA project will be presented by the partnership. The second session will include talks by representatives of international cultural organizations on topics such as Cultural policies for sustainable museums and the Agenda of Europe through the strategies for a Cultural and Creative Europe. In the final session, experts from the cultural sector like ICOM, NEMO and others will have a wide discussion on the profile of the museum professional, how professionals are evolving due to the increasing adoption of ICT technology by the Museums and other cultural organizations and the challenges they face. The event will close with an open discussion.
