On December 11, 2017, the Seminar Digital Challenges for Museums: Professional Profiles, Tasks, Competencies and Training took place at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Porto (FLUP), Portugal. It was organized by the Master in Museology (MMUS), U.PORTO, together with ICOM Portugal.

The meeting started with the presentation of the results obtained with the development of the Mu.SA project to date. The retroversion to Portuguese, elaborated by U.PORTO, of the document Museum Professionals in the Digital Era. Agents of Change and Innovation served as a basis for joint reflexion and discussion around the four emerging job role-profiles that have been identified to help museums face the digital challenges: Digital strategy manager, Digital Collections Curator, Digital Interactive Experience Developer and Online Community Manager. Three practical cases were presented (of a museum, a digital museum project and of an enterprise working with/for museums), considering their specific action dynamics and opening up the discussion about the adjusted professional profiles needed and their desirable digital and transferable skills. The presentations were followed by a round table on what training and content for the digital culture. The participation was active, enthusiastic and emotional, involving specialists and professionals from the academy, research centres, private companies and public institutions responsible for museums.
